Starting a Brick and Mortar Location in Mesa

1. Contact the Planning Division to ensure that the proposed business is allowed in the zoning district.

2. Is the location “move in” ready or does construction work need to be done?

a. Move in ready: Submit a Document Retrieval request for a duplicate Certificate of Occupancy:

b. Requires construction work to be done: Submit for a Tenant Improvement permit:

c. After the permit is approved construction work can begin, in conjunction with inspections:

d. After the final inspection is passed a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Completion is issued.

3. New signs may require a sign permit.

4. Apply for a Fire Safety Operational Permit.
