New Openings, Growing Opportunities

Mesa continues to elevate its retail, dining, entertainment, and hospitality landscape through new openings, major investments, and projects taking shape across the city. From established commercial corridors to some of Mesa’s fastest-growing areas, these developments are creating new experiences for residents and visitors while expanding opportunities for businesses, developers, and future investment.

This past quarter brought several exciting additions to two Southeast Mesa retail districts. In the Power Road Corridor, the dual-branded Tempo by Hilton Gallery Park and Homewood Suites Phoenix/Mesa Airport celebrated its grand opening at Gallery Park (Power Road and Loop 202) with The William New American Chophouse & Bar, an elevated dining experience, scheduled to open at the end of October. In the Gateway Area, Sprouts Farmers Market celebrated its grand opening at EastMarket (Ellsworth Road and Ray Road) shopping center, adding a highly anticipated retailer to one of Mesa’s fastest-growing areas.

Southeast Mesa is also setting the stage for the city’s next chapter of growth. In September, Mesa City Council approved key items advancing Legacy Park and Gateway Crossing, helping pave the way for a transformational, elevated mixed-use destination. The project reflects Mesa’s long-term vision for thoughtful growth and will create new elevated opportunities to live, work, shop, and dine.

OED staff continued to building relationships with retailers, restaurants, developers, brokers, and property owners through targeted outreach and industry events, including ICSC Western in San Diego. We remain focused on attracting quality concepts, strengthening Mesa’s retail districts, and connecting businesses and developers with opportunities throughout the city.

We are excited to build on this activity and continue elevating the experiences, destinations, and opportunities that make Mesa a great place to invest and grow.

Built Around the Rhythm of Everyday Life

The Superstition Springs Corridor has long been one of Mesa’s most established retail destinations, offering a mix of shopping, dining, entertainment, automotive, and essential services that serve residents and visitors from across the East Valley. Anchored by Superstition Springs Center, home to more than 120 stores, and complemented by the open-air experience at Village Square at Dana Park, the corridor offers a distinct blend of convenience and destination retail.

The area is also home to the Superstition Springs Auto Mall, with 11 franchise dealerships representing more than a dozen automotive brands. Combined with strong regional access, nearby major employers such as Banner Health, DriveTime, and UPS, and a well-established residential base, the corridor continues to play an important role in Mesa’s retail landscape.

Looking ahead, the City is working with property owners and partners to explore redevelopment opportunities throughout the corridor. These efforts are focused on encouraging reinvestment, strengthening existing destinations, and identifying new opportunities that can position Superstition Springs for its next chapter of retail, dining, entertainment and mixed-use activity.
